Tatiana Rika-Smythe is a former member of the Psy Council based in Australia. Now she is cut-off from the PsyNet, guarded by the DarkMind, completely in Kaleb Krychek's power and kept in one of Santano Enrique's murder holes that's only accessible by teleportation.

Biography[]

Life with Silence[]

No one knows Tatiana Rika-Smythe's history prior to joining the Council's superstructure because she hid her tracks all along.[1] Her predecessor on the Council, Michael Bonneau, died mysteriously at home with her as the only witness as his aide.[2]

Council[]

She was the youngest member of the Council and objected to Kaleb Krychek's nomination as he was even younger than her.[2]

Her home was a fortified compound in southern Australia.[3]

Physical Appearance[]

Tatiana has mahogany brown hair, hazel green eyes, sharp cheekbones, and flawless olive skin.[4]

Personality and Traits[]

She is ruthless, having made Councilor at a young age. She's cold, intelligent and cunning. Her Silence is pristine.

Abilities and Skills[]

She tests as a 8.7 Telepath on the Gradient and capable of brainwashing and reprogramming people, which she preferred to do herself rather than trust it to one of her people.[5] It is rumored she has the rare ability to disrupt even the deepest shield and she can get through first level shields undetected.[6]

Relationships[]

Nikita Duncan[]

They were business rivals.[7]

Sahara Kyriakus[]

She held Sahara Kyriakus captive for over seven years, trying to gain access to her rare abilities.

Trivia[]

  • In 1981, one of her ancestors commissioned a marble sculpture in a small park in Cambridge after a deal that led to the family's fortune.[8] It was destroyed by SnowDancer in retaliation for attacks on their pack.[3]
  • Her star is the softest light of the Councilors.[9]
  • In 2079, she moved to Australia, presumably from North America.[10]
  • The SnowDancers and DarkRiver sentinels stapled a message to Santano Enrique's tongue warning the Council not to go after Sascha Duncan and left it in a box on Tatiana's pillow.[11]
  • She tended to buy into other companies rather than building something herself.[12]

Quotes[]

“Tatiana Rika-Smythe.”  Ice in every syllable.  “She’s not as flashy as some of the other Councilors – this one’s more like a snake in the grass.”  -Bowen Knight[4]

“I know for a fact that she used psychic coercion to get certain contracts – she’s one of the most dangerous and unscrupulous women in the Net.  Bowen is right to be paranoid.”  -Judd Lauren to Adria Morgan and Riaz Delgado[13]

Appearances[]

Slave to Sensation[]

Tatiana attends Council meetings and discusses how to handle the killer, who turned out to be her fellow Councilor, Santano Enrique.[14] His tongue is delivered to her along with a warning.[11]

Visions of Heat[]

Tatiana attends Council meetings and sends a team to retrieve Faith NightStar from DarkRiver either dead or alive.[15]

Caressed by Ice[]

She attends more Council meetings, this time dealing with rebel activities.

Mine to Possess[]

Yet more meetings on Protocol I.

Hostage to Pleasure[]

When Ashaya Aleine fakes her death, Tatiana agrees with Ming LeBon that it seems suspicious because of how she covered her digital tracks, skills Ashaya wasn't known to have.[16]

Branded by Fire[]

Tatiana thinks the Council should consider Henry Scott's proposal for mass rehabilitations.[1]

Blaze of Memory[]

She makes a dig at Nikita by implying Empaths, and thus her daughter, are a mutation.[17]

Bonds of Justice[]

Tatiana's name comes up when Max Shannon, Sophia Russo, and Marsha Langholm discuss the Councilors who’ve sided with Pure Psy and those who haven’t.[18]

Play of Passion[]

Mentioned

Kiss of Snow[]

Nikita Duncan theorizes that Tatiana's sided with the Scotts and Pure Psy who have been stealthily attacking the San Francisco area and spying.[12] To send a message, SnowDancer publicly destroys a sculpture that had been commissioned by an ancestor.[3]

Tangle of Need[]

Tatiana's on the list of people with cause to spy on Sienna Lauren.[19] She was most certainly spying on the Human Alliance, having had Bowen Knight abducted and held for her to reprogram herself. The Psy guards, however, were complacent and arrogant in their psychic abilities. Bo was well-trained and easily executed all seven.[4]
